Different surgeries have different recovery requirements and times. Normally, the times vary from person to person, depending on how well the patients follow up on their post-op instructions. Recovery also depends on individuals’ immune systems as well as their commitments to staying off stress. Having plastic surgery in Turkey means that you will play a large role in your recovery process.
Different surgical procedures have their dos and don’ts to ensure a proper and quick recovery. Here’s a list of surgical procedures we offer and some rules to keep in mind after you have undergone any of these surgical procedures:
Sleep with your head elevated for the first week. Do not blow your nose for two weeks as it may cause bleeding, and if you must sneeze, open your mouth wide. Do not rub or massage your nose, and don’t let your glasses rest on the bridge of your nose. Avoid the sun or use SPF 30 or higher. Do not travel by air for the first 5 days and avoid vigorous exercises. Stay off the gym, sauna, swimming pool, and avoid lifting anything heavy for the first 1 month.
Keep your breasts supported with your compression bra for at least six weeks after your surgery. Rest as much as possible after your breast surgery, and avoid doing exercises. Do not get in the pool and avoid flying for at least 3 days. If you think you may be ready to fly, talk to your surgeon. Avoid heavy lifting and avoid going to the gym. You will be using antibiotics for the first week. Stay completely away from alcohol immediately after your surgery and it would be better to stop smoking at the least first one-month.
It’s okay to get up and walk around every hour after a tummy tuck surgery, so you don’t stay inactive. Simple exercises help to prevent blood clots. However, you should avoid heavy exercises like running, swimming, and heavy lifting after your surgery. Also, avoid prolonged standing. Do not go to the gym for one month. Also, make sure to keep off alcohol and cigarettes. Eat healthy diets that include protein to enable healing and fibre to prevent constipation. Your surgeon should let you know when it’s okay to take on some more challenging physical activities.
Do not smoke for at least two weeks before and after the surgery to avoid the inhibition of circulation. You will be given an elastic neck and face garment which you should always wear except when you’re showering, for 7-10 days. Afterwards, wear it only at night for 3-4 weeks. Also, avoid any sports after your plastic surgery as well as any significant physical exertion, including swimming and going to the gym for at least one month. Walking is advised as daily, it will fasten your blood circulation and you may be healing faster than expected.
Try as much as you can to avoid vomiting, coughing, or sneezing after your eyelid surgery. Also, avoid bending at the waist. Sleep with your head raised two to three pillows for up to two weeks after your surgery. Wear sunglasses when you’re out and avoid contact lenses. For the first three to four days, eat very soft food, and take small bites. Well, cooked vegetables and yoghurt are good options. Avoid strenuous exercises like swimming, heavy lifting a sauna. Stay off the gym till your surgeon says it’s okay to start exercising again. Avoid taking full baths till your surgeon says so and stay off makeup like mascara, eyeshadow, and eyeliner. Also, avoid applying creams to the site of your surgery.
Sleep with your head elevated for three weeks after the surgery. External sutures should be kept clean, and you cannot wash, rub, or massage your face until your surgeon says it’s okay. Brush and comb your hair very carefully for at least three weeks. Do not wear makeup until your surgeon says it’s okay and do not wear contact lenses for the first 5-7 days. Also, avoid vigorous exercises and anything that causes physical exertion for three after your surgery.
Avoid putting pressure on the grafted areas. Choose to lie on your side instead. Do not sit down too long for the first days, and if you have to, make sure to use the BBL pillow. Avoid smoking, avoid alcohol, and keep your diet healthy, rich in protein to promote healing. Do not squat, stretch, or sleep on your back and avoid applying ice because it may slow down circulation. Avoid any exercises that cause significant physical exertion. Walking is advised as it is in liposuction surgery.
