Longevita offers Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) for permanent solution to hair loss.
FUE is a pain and scar free technique whose recovery period is shorter than FUT. FUE is more effective for those with a receding hairline. FUE refers to the process of removing individual hair follicles from donor sites and transplanting them into recipient sites. Tiny punches of between 0.6mm and 1.20mm in diameter are used during the micro removal of hair follicles. After the removal, each single follicle is transplanted into the scalp of the balding area using a micro blade.
FUT, also known as the strip method, can be advised as a stand alone treatment or complementary to FUE in order to increase hair density. FUT requires the removal of a strip of tissue from the donor site therefore stitches would be necessary after the procedure.
Hair transplant does not alter the total number of hairs on the scalp since it just moves the follicles from one part of the scalp to another. It can not prevent future hair loss and is limited by the number of hair on the donor area.
Although it may vary from patient to patient, here’s a typical schedule of hair transplant Turkey experience:
You arrive at the clinic or hospital and meet the hair transplant specialist in person. You will be given detailed information regarding the surgery and you will be examined by the specialist. You will have an opportunity to discuss your donor, balding and thinning areas and expectations from your hair transplant in Turkey. If you would like to proceed, you will be asked to pay your remaining balance and sign consent forms. You will then have your medical tests to confirm your suitability for FUE or FUT hair transplant. The treatment usually lasts up to eight hours and it is operated under local anaesthesia. Longevita hair transplant surgeon will operate the surgery with his crew. The patient should lie down for at least four hours onwards and three and half hours backwards in order to have a successful root extraction and transplantation. You stay at the hotel after the hair restoration.
You visit Longevita hair transplant surgeon’s private clinic for final check-up including visual consultation, hair root check and removal of the dressing and washing. Your doctor advises you further on medication including a special lotion and a shampoo and the types of activities you can get involved in over the course of your recovery period. You will be ready to go back home after your second day in Turkey.
Which method of hair transplantation FUT or FUE is the right for me?
FUE has been regarded as the best hair transplant method available at the moment. FUE is a painless procedure whereas FUT leaves a scar and takes longer to recover.
How many grafts do I need?
You will have an in person physical examination during the consultation when your surgeon will asses the extent of your balding areas and the strength of your donor areas. S/he will then provide you with an estimation of the amount of coverage you can get and the number of grafts that can be extracted without damaging your donor area.
When will my new hair start to grow?
You are expected to experience some hair loss before your new hair will start to grow. This is due to the trauma that your hair follicles experience during the transplantation and this is completely normal. You hair will start to grow in after three months and you will see your final results after a year.
Will my hair look natural after hair transplant?
Yes absolutely because the transplanted hair is your own hair and it is completely natural.
How long will the results last ?
The transplanted hair is not subject to the balding process because it is taken from the back of your head which is resistant to hair loss, therefore the results will be permanent. However you may experience hair loss on your natural hair which was not touched during your hair transplant surgery.
