PRP is an innovative treatment which is gaining more traction in the surgical and non-surgical world as a new technique to help patients achieve natural-looking hair. PRP is a procedure which aims to rejuvenate the scalp, promote healing, and encourage hair growth as a separate treatment, and when combined with a hair transplant. PRP targets the existing hair follicles in the scalp and stimulates hair growth in order to address early signs of hair loss and thinning. At Longevita, we can perform platelet-rich plasma treatments as a singular procedure for eligible patients who are experiencing the early signs of hair loss. However, we highly recommend PRP therapy for those who are set to undergo a hair transplantation at our clinics in Turkey. The appropriate approach for you will be determined at the initial consultation, depending on your individual requirements, desired results and eligibility for surgery.
What Are Platelets & How Are They Used As A Hair Transplant Technique?
Platelets are a constituent of your blood, alongside both red and white blood cells. They are well-known for their clotting qualities, alongside their impressive growth factors. It is these growth qualities that make them ideal for use as an innovative hair transplant technique, as they can help to enhance scalp recovery and overall health. Many patients require a hair transplant as a result of poor scalp quality which has led to hair loss, and PRP therapy can help to improve this in the long-run, particularly after a hair transplant procedure.
What Is PRP Therapy?
PRP is a blood plasma which contains a much higher concentration of the healing platelets than what is found in normal blood. The blood is initially extracted directly from the patient, prior to the procedure, and is processed and spun in a centrifuge in order to extract the appropriate plasma required. Once the plasma is ready, it is then reinjected back into the scalp with tiny needles, to directly target the existing hair follicles.
PRP In Hair Transplantation
If you are looking to undergo a hair transplant at our clinics in Turkey, then we highly recommend having PRP therapy carried out prior to the trip. If you opt for this treatment, then you will receive up to 4 PRP injections. One is carried out in our clinics in London, Glasgow or Manchester, prior to the treatment taking place. Then, after you travel to Turkey, one will be applied on the day of the surgery in order to help promote the growth of the new follicles which have been surgically inserted into the scalp. Once you return to your home country, two more injections will be carried out, one month apart, in order to help strengthen the new hair follicles, and stimulate hair growth during the re-cooperation period.
There are three main applications which PRP injections can be useful for:
- Preserving and enhancing the viability of hair follicles during and after a hair transplant
- Promotion and enhancement of tissue repair and healing, post-transplantation
- Reinvigoration of dormant hair follicles & stimulation of new hair growth
Our free face-to-face consultations can provide you with a deeper understanding of the treatment and how this can be tailored to your individual requirements.
