Internationally recognised for his expertise in plastic surgery, Prof. Dr. Fuat is a board-certified plastic surgeon with the Turkish Society of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (TSPRAS) and has been in the medical practice for over 34 years. He also belongs to the very small group of plastic surgeons in Turkey who are active members of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). He performs his procedures at Florence Nightingale Hospital, Istanbul.
Born in Ankara, Prof. Dr. Fuat enrolled in the Gulhane Training and Research Hospital (GEAH), previously known as Gülhane Military Medical Academy (GATA), in 1982, earning his diploma in Doctor of Medicine (MD) after 6 years of study. Subsequently, he completed his 5-year specialist training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Haydaprasa Numune Training and Research Hospital in Istanbul, then called GATA Haydarpaşa Training Hospital, in which he later served as an Assistant Professor.
He also held the position of Visiting Professor for a year at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia — one of the US’ foremost national universities. Eventually, Prof. Dr. Fuat attained the title of a Professor in 2009 and, in the same year, was named the Chief of Service of the Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery Clinic at GATA Haydarpaşa Training Hospital. Prof. Dr. Fuat also offers non-surgical aesthetic treatments, including Botox and filler. As well, he is a member of the Turkish Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery (a type of surgery that uses a person’s own tissue for the purposes of reconstruction).
Prof. Dr. Fuat has also been very prolific in his academic endeavours, having written the book “The Story of the Breast from History to Today” and co-authored a chapter in the textbook “Atlas of Whole Body Contouring.” He has also published numerous papers and research articles, which have appeared in peer-reviewed and reputable journals, including ISAPS’ Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, European Journal of Plastic Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and ANZ Journal of Surgery, among others.
Prof. Dr. Fuat is also a practising educator, sharing his knowledge of the latest developments and innovations in the field of plastic surgery. He has also been quoted in a variety of media publications, including the Daily Mail, The Mirror, and the Daily Express.
Now living in Istanbul, one of Prof. Dr. Fuat’s favourite things to do is to watch football, especially the Premier League (he’s a Cityzen at heart). Other than that, he loves swimming and listening to the smooth and soulful notes of jazz.
