After an eight-year absence, Oscar-winner Halle Berry made a jaw-dropping return to the Met Gala red carpet in a risqué partly-sheer gown, but it wasn’t just the actress’ dress that stole the spotlight — social media was soon buzzing with rumours of plastic surgery.
The mother-of-two has previously confessed that seeing other celebrities alter their appearances has been a “pressure,” leading her to question, “To stay alive in this business, do I need to do the same thing?” in an interview with Yahoo Beauty.
According to a London-based medical aesthetics practitioner, Dr Gizem Seymenoglu, though the actress might have not gone under the knife, it’s possible that she had some non-surgical cosmetic “tweakments” to maintain her youthful appearance.
"When I put the earlier and more recent images of the actress side by side, I can see signs of potential Botox, particularly around the eyes and forehead. Back in 2024, subtle crow’s feet — fine lines around the outer corners of the eyes — were apparent on the actress’ face. However, there’s no hint of them anymore, and I don’t think that the change is quite as recent. Just a couple of months ago, when she attended the Oscars in March this year, it was the same, so she might’ve gotten Botox around that time.”
Halle appeared to attract more attention at the Met Gala, possibly due to changes that, in the expert’s opinion, could be the result of another cosmetic injection.
"I think that on top of Botox, Halle might’ve had the collagen-stimulating Sculptra or Radiesse dermal fillers, particularly in the lower half of the face. And she might’ve possibly had these sometime before March — possibly around February of this year. But because these fillers begin to show their initial effects within 4 to 6 weeks, while their full effects can be seen in 3 to 4 months, I notice more of a change in her face now than before.
In particular, I believe that she had these fillers injected for the “accordion lines” — the vertical lines next to the corner of the mouth. Since these fillers both create a filler effect and stimulate collagen production, those little accordion lines would’ve faded quite effectively. Additionally, to me, Halle’s lower jaw looks more voluminous at the recent Met Gala than it did a couple of months ago, so it’s possible that it’s the result of the same filler.”
However, Dr Gizem also pointed out that the star’s healthy lifestyle should not be overlooked when it comes to why she looks timeless.
“Halle’s workout routine has been widely reported, and you can also see that she’s in amazing shape, so that’s another reason why she looks so youthful. However, I also believe that her diet has played an important role in it. Halle has been open about her diabetes diagnosis as well as how she’s tried to manage her condition with a ketogenic diet, which means no carbs or sugar.
Now, the thing is that the number one factor behind the breakdown of collagen in the skin is sugar. And since she’s not consuming any sugar, her skin might’ve experienced less collagen degradation. Possibly, that would have further benefited her skin.”
