Plastic Surgery In Turkey

We all have insecurities. Perhaps you’ve experienced a life-altering accident or have been unhappy with a specific part of your body for as long as you can remember.

Having issues like these can make you feel insecure and uncomfortable in your skin. And this can, in turn, disrupt your professional, social, and personal life.

It’s only natural to desire to look your best self, and when there’s no other way to achieve that, many people turn to plastic surgery.

Overview Of Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgery can be for both functional and cosmetic reasons. There are two broad categories of plastic surgery:

Reconstructive Surgery

This aims to restore normal functioning and appearance of a part of the body which has been affected by surgical treatment (mastectomy for breast cancer), physical trauma, burn injury or congenital abnormality.

For instance, rhinoplasty (nose job) is reconstructive if it is for correcting structural damage to the nose, which may impair breathing for the patient. However, it can also be cosmetic.

Cosmetic Surgery

This aims to improve the appearance of a part of the body by changing its shape, size, or position. Usually, there’s no problem with the functioning of the body part, but sometimes it can cause some medical problems.

For instance, rhinoplasty is an aesthetic surgery if you want to alter the shape, size and length of the different parts of the nose because you’re unsatisfied with its appearance.

And there are different types of cosmetic plastic surgeries that you can get, including breast enlargement, rhinoplasty, liposuction, tummy tuck, facelift, eyelid surgery and bum lifts, amongst many others.

Journey to Turkey for Plastic Surgery

There are three phases of the plastic surgery journey. These are as follows:

Pre-Arrival

Before arriving for your plastic surgery in Turkey, you will have to make the following arrangements:

Fill Out the Enquiry Form for Initial Consultation

To initiate the booking process, first, you need to fill out the online enquiry form, after which we will have an initial consultation with you.

We will discuss the type of cosmetic procedures you are seeking and possible treatment options, and you can ask any questions you may have.

In order to get a medical assessment from a plastic surgeon and determine your suitability for a cosmetic procedure, we’ll ask you to send us a few pictures of the concerned area(s).

After this, we will send you a customised treatment plan along with a price quote for it. Before you make the booking, we can go over different finance options for aesthetic surgery.

Apply for a Visa

After you’ve made the booking, you should look into the visa requirements for medical treatment in Turkey.

Citizens of some countries are exempt, while some can get a visa on arrival. However, others are recommended to apply for an e-Visa online. You can also get a visa from the embassy.

Flight Bookings & Hotel Arrangement

Once this is done, you’ll have to make flight bookings, and we’ll arrange your accommodation and transfers according to your medical travel plan.

You can let us know if you have any other specific needs so we can make the bookings accordingly. It is also possible for you to arrange the hotel and transfer privately.

Post-Arrival

Once you arrive at the airport in Turkey, a driver will pick you up and take you to your hotel.

And the next day, you’ll have a consultation at the hospital, but first, you’ll meet the host.

Meeting the Host

On the day of the consultation, you’ll first meet your host or personal interpreter.

They will act as the point of contact between you and your surgeon, accompanying you to your appointments and providing help before and right after your surgery.

Face-To-Face Consultation with the Surgeon

This takes place with your plastic surgeon usually a day before the surgery. In this, you can ask any questions that you have about the surgery. It’s better to prepare these in advance.

Your surgeon will go through the procedure itself and give you an idea of how it will change your body. Here, there’s also a small chance of changes to your treatment plan.

Your doctor may recommend alternative aesthetic surgeries to better meet your needs.

Surgery & Discharge

You may have the procedure the next day, and depending on the surgical procedure, you can either go back to your hotel the same day or may need to stay in the hospital for 1-2 days.

The clinic will provide you with any support garments and medications that you need for recovery.

Checkup

In this appointment, the surgeon will check the surgical wounds and, if needed, change your dressing. In this, you’ll also get details about the aftercare process, which you need to follow for normal recovery.

After going back home, you can get free consultations online for your aftercare.

Post-Return

After you travel back home, you need to ensure a normal recovery.

Aftercare

Following the aftercare instructions will help you get the best results. If you encounter any problem during recovery, you can always get in touch with our team online or call us.

On our end, we will be following your recovery for a year after the surgery to make sure that you’re healing normally.

Choosing Turkey for Plastic Surgery

The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) reported that more than 10 million people underwent cosmetic surgery in 2020; nearly 400,000 of these surgeries took place in Turkey.

More and more people are travelling to Turkey for plastic surgery, mainly because of the affordable prices made possible by the exchange rate and low cost of living.

Many Turkish surgeons have memberships of ISAPS, the General Medical Council, the British College of Aesthetic Medicine, the Turkish Society of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons, etc.

In addition, there are internationally accredited hospitals and clinics where the highest standards of hygiene and excellence are maintained.

Finding A Clinic For Plastic Surgery In Turkey

When looking for a plastic surgery clinic/hospital in Turkey, you should ask the clinic if a surgeon will perform your surgery.

They need to be board-certified, and you should verify this by checking it out on the medical registers of the relevant healthcare bodies.

Most clinics offer very low prices due to the inexperience of the medical staff or “hidden costs,” which they deliberately fail to disclose in the treatment plan.

Here, too, you need to ask the clinic about all the things that are a part of the treatment plan. You shouldn’t feel pressured into making a booking, as that’s one of the biggest red flags.

Make sure that your surgeon is covered by malpractice insurance and that the clinic is licensed. You should also see before/after pictures of patients, read their testimonials, and, if possible, speak to them either virtually or in person.

A good surgeon will always ask you questions to understand your medical history and expectations, and goals from the surgery to deliver the best results.

Ask yourself if you can trust your surgeon. These things will help you in making the right decision for yourself.
