Tummy Tuck Turkey

Tummy tucks are generally sought after when a person has lost a dramatic amount of weight, and is left with excess loose skin. Losing a lot of weight can be a fantastic achievement, but all too often both men and women can be left with the burden of excess skin. This can also happen after a woman loses a lot of weight after pregnancy, and when the stretched skin won’t return to its pre-pregnancy state. Usually, people who seek tummy tucks also have weakened stomach muscles and a lack of elasticity in the skin. Excess skin can cause self-esteem issues, and a tummy tuck could be the solution for those wanting to lose the excess skin around their stomachs in order to feel more confident about themselves.

A tummy tuck in Turkey can be a life changing experience for some of our patients, and the process involves removing the excess loose skin and tightening up any muscles. Sometimes, a tummy tuck can also help to remove any stretch marks. Whether you choose to combine your tummy tuck with liposuction, or have the procedure independently, the results can be dramatic.

Before your procedure, our expert surgeons will talk you through the different techniques that our surgeons can use to help you get the best possible results. If you choose a tummy tuck in Turkey, there are two procedures that can be used. The first is a standard tummy tuck, where the surgeon will make a long incision into your abdomen and a second incision to remove your belly button. Then the surgeon will pull tummy muscles back together to tighten them, and any excess fat and skin is then removed, the belly button repositioned and the incisions closed. Alternatively, we also offer a mini tummy tuck, where only the skin is tightened with a little incision, and the belly button does not change place. Each procedure is treated with an individualised approach, and our expert surgeons are experienced in treating a vast selection of patients from a number of ethnicities.

What is a Tummy Tuck?

Tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, is the plastic surgery procedure of straightening the tummy area by removing surplus fat and skin as well as tightening the muscles in the abdominal wall. Tummy tuck can be applied both for men and women who are in good health condition.

Many people undergo tummy tuck surgery because of their excess fat and skin which may occur due to pregnancy, ageing, significant weight loss, heredity or prior surgery. Full tummy tuck or mini tummy tuck may be suggested by the plastic surgeon depending on the condition of a patient.

Tummy tuck does not treat obesity. Fat people should lose certain amount of weight before the surgery. Tummy tuck surgery improves the appearance of a fat belly and abdomen dramatically, but scarring due to surgery is permanent. There are different techniques used by plastic surgeons for abdominoplasty. Tummy tuck procedure, can also be performed with body contour correction surgery.

How Tummy Tuck is Performed

Full abdominoplasty surgery takes about 2-5 hours while partial abdominoplasty may take 1-2 hours. An incision is usually made from one hip to another which is usually hidden under the swimsuit. Second incision is needed around the navel. Incision lines in partial abdominoplasty are shorter than the full abdominoplasty. During surgery, the abdominal skin is separated from the groin to the ribs under the muscles. If there is weakness in the abdominal muscles or hernia, excess skin is removed from the body. After the treatment, the wound is closed with metal clamps and either single or hidden stitches covered with bandages. One or two tubes are placed under the skin in order to absorb excess liquid collected in the surgery area.

Results of Tummy Tuck

Patient’s abdomen will naturally be swollen for the first few days, but medication controls the pain. Patient may have a couple of pillows placed behind her knees in order to keep them bent and reduce the tension in her abdominal muscles. Patient may not be able to stand up straight away, but she should start walking about as soon as possible. All stitches are usually the dissolving type; however, any clips will be taken out after five days.

A comfortable support garment should be worn for six weeks. Tummy tuck recovery varies by individual. Some return to work after only two weeks while others take three or four weeks to recuperate. Patients can usually expect to be back to full activity after six weeks. Heavy lifting or strenuous activity are not advised in the first six weeks after tummy tuck surgery. Moderate exercise such as walking or swimming is recommended during this time.

Limitations of Tummy Tuck

Tummy tuck surgery will not eliminate stretch marks of the patient’s mid or upper abdomen yet it will shift them lower on her abdomen. There will be a scar extending across the lowest part of patient’s abdomen, just below the bikini line. Unless the belly button requires transposition, there will not be a second scar around the patient’s belly button. These tummy tuck scars are usually hidden by underwear or a swimming suit. The scars will fade gradually. It takes approximately nine months to a year before scars flatten out and lighten in colour. Regardless, patients will most likely look and feel better with a flat abdomen and scars than they would with a bulging belly.

Risks of Tummy Tuck

Every surgical procedure has certain amount of risk, so has tummy tuck. Complications related with tummy tuck surgery such as infection and bleeding are rare when performed in appropriate hospital conditions by experienced plastic surgeons.

Contraindications for Tummy Tuck

Tummy tuck procedure can not be performed on every patient. Contraindications to abdominoplasty include right, left, or bilateral upper quadrant scars (relative), severe comorbid conditions (e.g. heart disease, diabetes, morbid obesity), excessive cigarette smoking, future plans for pregnancy, a history of thromboembolic disease (relative).

Most of abdominoplasty patients require drainage after the procedure in order to make the blood and other fluids flow, so the patient must be careful about his/her bed position after the procedure. What is the difference between tummy tuck and mini tummy tuck?

In mini tummy tuck, minimum amount of abdominal area is affected by skin removal or muscle tightening below the belly button. However, in traditional tummy tuck, the amount of fat and skin removal process spreads on a wider zone including lower abdominal area.

What if I become pregnant after my tummy tuck procedure?

If you become pregnant after the procedure, the effects of the operation become useless. Since this procedure is related to the abdominal muscles and fat areas, you may consider the result unsatisfactory after you give birth to your child. The muscles that you decide to reshape loosen after you give birth to your child.
