Madonna Plastic Surgery: How The Madge’s Face Has Changed

The Queen of Pop – Madonna – is not a stranger to controversy. Even if she doesn’t talk about certain things, stories churned out by the rumour mill end up with her in the headlines. Madonna plastic surgery rumours have followed the singer from her early days to even this date.

Seeing how her face has transformed over the years, it’s hard not to speculate about the suspicion that Madonna may have been under the knife. But what kind of procedures did the songstress undergo? Let’s find out.

Who Is Madonna?

You didn’t have to be born in the 70s or 80s to know who Madonna is. Madonna Louise Ciccone is not just a pop singer; she is one of the most powerful and influential figures of our age. The singer has been known for speaking her mind.

Arriving in New York in 1978 with just 35$ in her pocket, she went on to release some of the greatest hits like Vogue, Material Girl, Like A Virgin, Frozen, Live To Tell, Holiday, and Crazy For You, among many, many others. Her complete control over every aspect of her career and image arguably makes her one of the first female singers to do so. Referencing sexual and religious themes in many of her songs, she has often been the subject of criticism or praise.

However, undeniably, she has been applauded for her musical versatility and sheer talent. She has even won a Golden Globe for Best Actress for her work in Evita. To date, she has been nominated for Grammys 28 times and has won 7 of those. Her biopic is also set to come out in the following year or so.

How Much Plastic Surgery Has Madonna Had?

It is believed that the Material Girl singer may have had the following surgical and non-surgical procedures:

Botox

Madonna looks nowhere near her age. She is practically seen without any wrinkles or fine lines (especially after her famous 2020 TikTok). This is something that fans also noticed when the singer posted pictures of family Pictionary night on Instagram. And it’s not like Madonna never had any wrinkles or fine lines ever. She clearly did if you look at her before photos but, now, the Madge seems to be ageing backwards.

Botox works by freezing the muscles in the face that are involved in the making of different facial expressions, such as forehead wrinkles or crow’s feet. The skin around the eyes and forehead of the singer does look smooth and flawless, which could be thanks to this non-surgical injectable.

Madonna may have been getting maintenance injections of Botox for quite some years now. Many people have pointed out that her face looks kind of “frozen,” and they can’t really see her make any expressions, which is something that can happen if too much Botox is injected (it can appear unnatural).

Dermal Fillers

The Rebel Heart’s singer is also believed to have gotten dermal fillers throughout her career. It was around 2010 that her face had started to become noticeably “puffier.” Volume loss is something that also happens as a result of ageing. Lines around the mouth can become more prominent, the cheeks can look sunken, and the lips shrunken. However, even at 63, Madonna’s cheeks are puffy and full of volume, and the size of her lips is also larger than it naturally was in her before photos.

Facelift

It was back in 1994, when Madonna was 36, that it was first speculated that she may have had a facelift. Around that age, the skin naturally starts to droop a little because of the effects of gravity and structural changes taking place in the skin. While before 1994, you could see some of these signs of ageing, they seem to have gone away by 1994.

Her photos around that time also show some scarring around the front of the ears, which is a telltale sign of facelift surgery. The surgeon has to make the incisions there to move the skin up and back while getting rid of excess skin. However, keep in mind that a facelift doesn’t stop the process of ageing. That’s why it’s believed that Madonna may have had two more facelifts since (the last one more recently).

This is particularly noticeable considering how “stretched” and “tight” her face looks. However, you can’t really see the scar around her ears anymore because her hair is always covering the sides of her face. She may be intentionally doing that to hide the scars of the facelift.

Blepharoplasty

As you age, you’ll notice the wrinkling of the skin around the upper eyelids and the lateral canthus (outer corner of the eye). This excess skin can result in droopiness. The upper eyelids also start to become more hollow, and tear troughs can also become more prominent. Now, in some of Madonna’s photos, you can clearly see these things; it’s a natural part of ageing, after all.

However, they seem to come and go, as if she’s getting these problems fixed through a blepharoplasty. In her recent photos, her eyes look youthfully alluring. And this may be because of eyelid surgery. In this, the surgeon removes excess skin, rearranges the fat pads and tightens the muscles so that the eyes don’t droop anymore.

Buccal Fat Reduction

Buccal fat reduction has been a popular procedure to highlight the cheekbones and make your face look more chiselled. It involves the removal of buccal fat pads located in the hollow below the cheekbones. It is alleged that Madonna may also have had this procedure. That’s because, unlike before, the upper part of her face looks considerably larger than the lower part. It also looks more narrow now.

Butt Implants

After seeing Madonna’s buttocks at a surprise performance at The Stonewall Inn in New York in 2019, many people were sure that the singer had butt implants. The procedure essentially enhances the shape and size of the buttocks through the use of permanent silicone implants.

A BBL can do the same, but by harvesting fat from other areas of the body and injecting it into the target area. The difference is that an implant can give more dramatic results.

Has Madonna Admitted To Getting Plastic Surgery?

In 2012, Madonna made her stance on plastic surgery quite clear, “I am certainly not against plastic surgery. However, I am absolutely against having to discuss it.” So the Papa Don’t Preach hitmaker has never admitted to getting plastic surgery. However, she hasn’t denied getting it either. Getting plastic surgery is a personal matter, and it’s understandable that the singer doesn’t want to discuss it with everyone else.

But this hasn’t stopped Madonna from clapping back at her haters when they ridicule her for it. For instance, after everyone had said that Madonna had butt implants, she posted a picture of herself on Instagram with a very meaningful caption: “Desperately Seeking No Ones Approval………………😂. And Entitled to Free Agency Over My Body Like Everyone Else!! Thank you 2019 🎉🎉🎉! Its Going to Be an amazing Year!!” referring to her film Desperately Seeking Susan. She also ended the caption with the hashtags “freedom,” “respect,” “no fear,” and “no discrimination.”

Were The Results of Madonna Plastic Surgery Any Good?

Although the singer still looks gorgeous, the one big problem with her plastic surgery is that it looks unnatural. As mentioned above, too much Botox can make your face look frozen. Also, too many fillers can make your face look too puffy. However, as far as her facelift and eye surgery are concerned, their results look good.

There are many people who say that the singer has gone too far with plastic surgery procedures. Heat magazine reported, “Lourdes, Rocco and the other kids tiptoe around this subject with their mum, but it’s reached the stage they’re getting concerned about her.” The source also went on to say, the reason why she’s getting these procedures is that “She isn’t ready to give up music – but the whole industry is so youth focused.”

Are Madonna’s Good Looks All Thanks To Plastic Surgery?

Not at all! The singer has always been quite beautiful. And she may have had some procedures done in order to look youthful, but she also makes sure to eat healthily and exercise. In 2016, according to one of her trainers, she was working out six days a week for at least 30 minutes.

Additionally, she did “interval training, boxing, resistance training and yoga.” She also does Ashtanga yoga and is on a macrobiotic diet (focused on whole grains). So, clearly, her good looks are also a combination of her genetics and healthy lifestyle.

How Much Has Madonna Spent On Plastic Surgery?

The cost of plastic surgery can largely vary depending on the location of the clinic. It can also depend on the experience of the surgeon/practitioner. Assuming she’s had her procedures done at a high-end clinic in the US, it’s quite likely that all of her plastic surgeries may have cost her hundreds of thousands of dollars.

She has been getting surgeries for years, and she might also be getting maintenance injections of Botox and fillers meanwhile. Together, these procedures can be quite expensive. Still, it is not exactly known how much Madonna plastic surgery cost.

Conclusion

Madonna plastic surgery isn’t just a rumour. If we compare her before and after photos, there are clear differences in the way her face has changed. Also, for someone who’s in her 60s, she seems to be showing not a single sign of ageing (which she had before), which could be due to the surgical and non-surgical procedures. We completely respect the singer’s decision to not discuss this part of her life with others. And no matter what, she’ll forever be a Queen!
