This guide explains who looks after you once your procedure is over, what to ask your clinician before you travel, and where to get help if you are worried about your recovery after returning to the UK.
Who Looks After You After Your Procedure?
Your independent clinician and their clinical team are responsible for your care after your procedure, including any follow-up.
They give you your recovery instructions, see you for any check-ups before you fly home and are your contact for questions or concerns about your recovery, including after you return to the UK.
Every clinician has their own approach to recovery, so follow the plan your clinician gives you and check with them before changing it.
What to Ask Your Clinician Before You Travel
Before your procedure, ask your clinician’s team:
- who to contact if you have a question or concern about your recovery, and how to reach them
- the number to call if you need them urgently
- what follow-up to expect after you return home
- what happens if you need further treatment, and what it would cost
The NHS gives similar advice to anyone considering cosmetic surgery abroad.
If You Have a Concern After Returning to the UK
Contact your clinician’s team directly, using the contact details they gave you. They can review your recovery and tell you what to do next, including whether you need to be seen in person.
If you are not sure whether your symptoms need attention, your GP or NHS 111 can advise you.
In an Emergency
In an emergency while you are in Turkey, call 112.
Once you are home in the UK, call 999 or go to your nearest A&E in an emergency. For urgent advice that is not an emergency, call NHS 111.
What If You Need Further Treatment?
If your clinician advises further treatment, such as a revision procedure, they will explain your options and any costs. Decisions about further treatment are made by your clinician, under your agreement with them.
