Diet or Surgery? Learn the Surprising Secret Behind “Adele Weight Loss”

On one Wednesday in May of 2020, netizens witnessed something shocking. An innocent post on Instagram by a famous singer was praising the efforts of those on the frontline during the coronavirus pandemic. The singer was also thanking her fans for the birthday wishes. Adele posted a photo of herself on her 32nd birthday with the following caption, after that, millions have googled the same thing: “Adele weight loss.”

The Legendary Caption

“Thank you for the birthday love. I hope you’re all staying safe and sane during this crazy time. I’d like to thank all of our first responders and essential workers who are keeping us safe while risking their lives! You are truly our angels ♥️2020 okay bye thanks x”

Nothing seems out of place when you read the caption. However, it was the “Hello” singer’s photo that took all the attention. The majority of the replies to Adele’s post were not in regards to her caption but rather her photo. Many flooded the comments section with congratulations to the singer on her new body. The mini black dress with ruffle sleeves showed off the celebrity’s body transformation in all its glory. It’s no surprise that she looked gorgeous as always.

The post has had more than 11 million likes since. Almost everyone talked about it, except for Adele herself. Of course, losing weight is a personal choice, and the celebrity likes to keep her life private. But there are loads of questions in the minds of her fans. Whatever it may be, we all want her to do whatever makes her happy.

It was a Long Journey

You might’ve noticed Adele weight loss journey since last year. In her one post on Instagram in October 2019, she said, “I used to cry but now I sweat.” It was, of course, indicating a lifestyle change by the singer. The post came months after she had split up from her husband Simon Konecki.

For some of us, Adele weight loss might not have come as a surprise. After going on a holiday to Anguilla with Harry Styles and James Corden in January, Adele met a 19-year-old fan, Lexi Larson, who told to People about her encounter with the stars. Larson and her friends could barely recognize Adele.

“She said she lost something like 100 pounds, and that it’s such a crazy positive experience. She seemed so happy, and she looked amazing. She seemed really confident,” was what Lexi told the magazine. What that being in the news, we also came to find out, before that, about Adele’s workout regime.

A source told the US Weekly in July 2019 that working out had become a part of the singer’s routine despite her not caring about it or liking it. She’d been doing cross-training and Pilates. Still, the world wasn’t ready when it finally saw the results of Adele weight loss.

Was It Sirtfood Diet and What is it Anyway?

In all the headlines about Adele weight loss, the Sirtfood diet has come to the forefront. Even in 2016, it was said that the singer lost 30 pounds because of her “new diet.” Her former Pilates instructor Camila Goodis certainly believes that Adele’s “90%” weight loss has occurred because of her diet. However, the singer herself hasn’t said anything about it. Her former trainer Pete Geracimo likes his clients to follow this diet, which is why many believe Adele is also doing it.

The diet’s concept was given in a book by Glen Matten and Aidan Goggins in 2016. It was the same time around when the rumours of her being on it started. The founders of this diet said, “The traditional Mediterranean diet was always the inspiration for The Sirtfood Diet. It’s a way of eating that has been shown to be more beneficial than calorie counting for weight loss and more effective than pharmaceutical drugs for stopping disease.”

Eating sirtfoods will activate the sirtuins (proteins that regulate cell health), according to this diet. On its website, it claims that food rich in polyphenol trigger sirtuin pathways that impact metabolism, ageing and mood. The protein found in plants can protect cells against inflammation and help the body to burn fat faster. So, that’s how Adele reportedly lost weight.

How Does Diet Work?

The website also outlines the way the diet works. It consists of two phases. The first one is low-calorie which has the person take 1,000 calories a day for the first three days. You have to consume three sirtfood green juices and one sirtfood-rich meal during this time. Afterwards, the calorie intake is increased to 1,500 from four to seven days. During this, you have to consume two meals and two juices daily.

After this comes phase 2 in which 14-day maintenance is required with one green juice and three sirtfood-rich meals. You can have pizza, pancakes, or curries with a “Sirtfood twist” on them.

Reportedly, Adele has been able to consume red wine and coffee in this diet while adding the twist through a regime of plant products like turmeric, kale, buckwheat and green tea. The diet encourages eating food that is full of anti-oxidants such as cocoa, berries, red wine, etc.

What’s Truly the Secret Behind Adele Weight Loss

Adele weight loss has made a lot of people curious. So, in order to get some answers to questions, such as was the sirtfood diet or rather a surgery that transformed the singer’s appearance, we consulted one of our doctors. It even left her celebrity pals shocked. Chrissy Teigen, in fact, commented on the post, “I mean are you kidding me.” Questions need some answers, so we went to look for them.

If you are one a fan of the singer, you might’ve wondered about it too, although it should be kept in mind that her choice to lose weight is completely personal. Netizens are only trying to figure out how she achieved such incredible results. Did she switch up her diet, and started a new workout, what was it that lead to Adele weight loss? At Longevita, we took our questions to Prof. Dr Fuat Yuksel, who was able to answer all the questions for us. Below is our interview:

Do you Think Adele Had Weight Loss Surgery?

Not that we know of. A weight loss surgery is a very effective treatment for those who’re obese or morbidly obese. It is a very results-driven procedure. With bariatrics, which involves making changes to the stomach (it is made smaller in size so that smaller portions of food can make you feel full), weight can drop quickly.

It is quite possible that it’ll stay off forever. Patients typically lose 70% of their excess body weight, shedding on average 60-80 extra pounds in a year or so. That is why it is being speculated that Adele has undergone a procedure like gastric sleeve surgery or gastric bypass surgery, considering how fast she has lost weight.

Did Adele Have Plastic Surgery?

Again, not that we know of. If you look closely, you’ll see that her face is free of any wrinkles and after the weight loss, she would have lost volume. In some pictures, you can see that she has had some fillers and Botox.

Skin removal after a weight loss surgery leads to optimum results if it is performed after at least a year out. Adele started showing signs of getting skinny around October 2019. So, it is unlikely that she has undergone plastic surgery at this point. She might have had a very balanced diet along with regular workouts to help her prevent loose skin.

Do You Think She Followed A Diet?

Yes. It’s all over the media that she’s been following the “Sirtfood” diet.

Does She Have a Personal Trainer?

Yes. It is quite likely that she had a customised workout plan for almost every day.

How Much Weight Did She Lost and Is it Healthy?

She has lost around 100 pounds, and we can say that is healthy when you combine your weight loss journey with exercise and a healthy diet as Adele does.

What are the Suggested Plastic Surgeries for Her After Weight Loss?

Her transformation is great, but she has lost more than 20 kilos of weight. Her whole body must have lost elasticity. She can consider having a tummy tuck, facelift, jawline and breast lift surgery.
